This collection was more about the bridal accessories, most especially the head piece. I am a big fans of J. Crew’s jeans, and I must confess I am even more happy to see them adding new pieces to the collection every season. Their stylish summer collection just debuted online (it’s available to buy next month or by pre-ordering now), and there’s something for every bride—from quirky short dresses to classic feminine gowns as well as accessories. Here are 10 of our must-have items!
Whether you’re the bride planning a grouped themed bridesmaid hairstyle, or you’re the bridesmaid who needs a look for the big day. There are tons of fashionable and chic hairstyles to pair your bridal dress with. From classic looks of updos, to more trendy styles of side braids. I love looking towards celebrities on the red carpet to show us glamorous ways we can wear our hair for special occasions. Look below to get inspired for 2012 bridesmaid hairstyles.
I’m a big fan of short Wedding dresses, they are still considered an unconventional choice but one Bridal design house. Their Spring 2013 Wedding dress collection “draws inspiration from vintage classics and silhouettes, paintings and colourful book covers fused with modern fabrics to yield classic short and tea length wedding dresses with a futuristic outlook.” And here are my favourites…
An unusual title for a wedding dress, Bratt, then again it is nice to be different. The style is definitely a vintage classic but the scalloped hem and oversized flower belt provide a young and playful tone.
The Bass dress mixes brocade with organza in a classics 1950′s silhouette. Halter necks seem to be in vogue for 2013 brides and this optional bow detail gives a charming twist to the look.
The most fashion forward look in the OnlyBrides.com.au 2013 collection is this Sake wedding dress with its ruched floor length chiffon panels.
From the most fashion forward look to the freshest, I can’t get enough of this full chiffon skirt with its swirls of candy floss pink – simply scrumptious.
And I couldn’t resist sharing the only non-short or in fact skirted look of the 2013 collection, the Sour Brocade Wedding Suit. Peplum is so hot right now and teamed with the drain pipe trousers it makes an enviable combination.

Let’s face it – when most brides choose their bridesmaid colours, they’ll tend to go with colours they love, rather than a colour that’s trendy. Inevitably though, you’ll probably find that you grow fonder of colours that are currently fashionable.
Generally speaking though, the hottest colours for the next season seem to fall into two categories:
1. Jewel tones
Orangey reds, rich blues, mustardy yellows, lush teal blues, rich purples, deep greens – jewel colours are very in right now. The nice thing about many jewel colours is that they’re toned down enough to be flattering to most skin tones, rather than only suiting a lucky few. And they’re wonderfully cheerful and happy feeling. You can also pair them up with other vibrant colours and end up with a really impactful overall look.
It’s also worth noting that Pantone’s colour of the year for 2012 is tangerine orange. Side note: the weird thing about orange is that it seems to enjoy giddy heights of uber-trendy-dom, or else it’s the world’s most hated colour. With few moments in between. What’s with that?!
The other major key note through the next season’s collections are the more neutral colours (though ‘colour’ may not be the right word for some of ’em!) – black, titanium grey, champagne rose, with dabblings into pastel blues, and dusky pale purples. Some of the paler colours will be tougher to wear, and you’ll need to make sure they don’t make your bridesmaids look ill or washed out. You could pair neutral tones with other neutrals for a classy, slightly vintage colour palette, or alternatively with some bright zingy colours to contrast with your base colour.
Whatever colour you choose, make sure you love it. You want to look back and enjoy, rather than wince over your wedding photos.
This season, many of the biggest bridesmaid dress trends looked quite familiar. From peplums to illusion necklines, popular wedding gown details are making their way to ‘maids.
It’s amazing how a piece of sheer fabric can absolutely transform a gown. We first saw illusion necklines hit the bridal runways just before the Royal Wedding, and the trend has grown ever since, now expanding to bridesmaid styles.
While we wouldn’t necessarily call lace a wedding dress trend (by now, it’s certainly a mainstay), it’s a fabric that was rarely used on bridesmaid dresses – until now. From a little touch of contrasting lace to full-on lace dresses, we’re happy to see this feminine fabrication move into the bridesmaid world.
We’ve always been fans of one-shoulder wedding dresses – they’re flattering and modern. One-shoulder styles have been shown en masse for wedding dresses, but only recently have they hit it big in bridesmaids.
Peplums were the trend of the Spring 2013 bridal runways, so we were glad to see them on bridesmaid dresses at the same time.
Ever since Pippa Middleton made her grand entrance to the Royal Wedding, white bridesmaid dresses have transformed from taboo to trend. We like how designers are adding black details to white bridesmaid dresses for some modern contrast.
Keep in mind your body size and height, as you will not want a large flowing bouquet if you are very slim or petite. It will just exaggerate you. Same goes if your are voluptuous or tall. Choose something that keeps your overall look in balance.
