Whether you are planning to tie the knot on a hillside coast in Devon, the snowy Ice Chapel in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, or the wilds of Africa with a backdrop of gazelles and giraffes – what matters is that your big day is exactly how you dreamed it would be. Part of every girl’s dream day is getting the chance to wear couture wedding dresses, but a bride should know that though the dress is one of the most important parts, good accessories go a long way to completing the look. In addition to the dress, a bride should consider hair accessories, jewellery and shoes that flatter both her and her overall look.
Hair accessories – While a bride may not want to take away from the style of the couture wedding dresses with an over-the-top bit of headgear, a few well placed hair accessories can go a long way in adding to the elegance of her look. Some of the most popular hair accessories come in the form of crystals. These can be made into a tiara, encrust the top of a small comb, or even be tacked onto the end of hair pins and dotted throughout the bride’s hair. The look that will work best comes down to the hairstyle the bride chooses, and the image she wishes to portray.
Jewellery – What bride-to-be doesn’t like a bit of bling to really highlight the expensive look of couture wedding dresses? Some even go so far as to decide on jewellery before the dress – much less the locale! From ornate, diamond necklaces made by famous jewellery brands such as Tiffany’s, to the more affordable glitter of Swarovski crystals, a well selected piece or two can go a long way in enhancing more subtle looks by bringing an element of understated class. But, conversely, there is such a thing as too much, and the bride-to-be should let the style of the dress, the wedding venue, and the wedding party help her make a sensible decision on the jewellery she chooses. After all, the ring should be the piece of jewellery that everyone remembers when all the vows are said and done.
Shoes – At the best of times a woman loves her shoes, and many amass a collection of them that is often impressive and extensive – with at least one pair for every occasion. Why should a wedding be any different? When a bride is putting forth the effort to try a variety of couture wedding dresses to make herself into the image of perfection, the shoes are an important element that can often be overlooked. For the majority of bridal occasions, simplicity is the best way forward – something with a heel the bride can walk down the aisle in, that doesn’t glaringly stand out from the rest of her look. But this doesn’t mean that she should just grab any old white shoe! In fact, many designers understand the necessity of pairing the perfect dress with the ideal shoes that enhance the whole look in an understated way. But be aware of venue too – there is no place for the perfect heels if you can’t walk down the sandy isle of your beach side wedding.
